Sugar Free Chocolate
Sugar free chocolate is an alternative you might want to consider if you are trying to lose weight. You can find healthy sugar free chocolate if you do a little bit of research. Not all sugar free chocolates contain fillers, wax, or other unhealthy ingredients.
Look at the ingredients list closely when you are considering sugar free chocolate. One of the most common artificial sweeteners used in chocolate that doesn’t add sugar is called Maltitol. Maltitol is a sugar substitute that is about 75%-90% as sweet as sugar. It doesn’t promote tooth decay, and has a lower effect on blood glucose than processed sugar.
Usually sugar free candies, as well as chocolate, are safe for diabetics looking for a treat that taste’s sweet but does not produce the same results as those treats containing sugar.
Can you get the same effect from raw organic dark chocolate as you can from sugar free dark chocolate? The question is still out. Natural dark chocolate without any additives is definitely preferable to anything with artificial sweeteners. But there are some sugar free dark chocolates that can be as good for you as regular dark chocolate. But adding artificial sweeteners is still out to committee whether it’s healthy on a daily basis or not.
Sugar free chocolates can also taste just as good as their sugar laden counterparts. If you want the taste of the sweet without the actually sugar, give them a try!
